Individualized Consultations

As part of an individualized consultation, Karpa reviews a patient's medical history & drug therapies.  She can explain to the patient the physiological and pharmacological basis for the prescribed therapies.  Additionally, Karpa reviews possible side effects and drug interactions with each patient.

When patients experience intolerable side effects, Karpa may educate patients about possible alternatives and encourage patients to talk to their doctor to see if another medication might be more appropriate.  Depending upon the circumstances, Karpa may even contact a physician on the patient's behalf.

Questions that patients frequently ask during a consultation:

  • What is this medication for?
  • How does this medication work?
  • What are the side-effects of this medication?
  • Is there anything I can do to minimize the side-effects?
  • Isn't there another drug I could take that has fewer side effects?
  • Does this medication interact with other medicines I take?
  • What time of day should I take this medication?
  • Should I take this medication with or without food?
